Breaking news - Day 70 - Completion on Ben Loyal

Manny reached the summit of Ben Loyal today at around 16:30, thereby completing all 219 Corbetts in an incredible 70 days.

As far as I am aware, this is a record by a considerable margin. (Other known rounds listed at

Manny has been interviewed live on air from the summit of Ben Loyal by Radio Scotland. The interview is on Newsdrive for 03/07/09 on the iPlayer for the next few days - - it's about 13 mins into the programme.

And talking of breaking, as Dot mentioned in her comments to the last blog entry, our best wishes for a good recovery go to Brenda, who broke her shoulder yesterday in a fall from the mountain bike, and had to go to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.

More details to follow in due course on both parts of the story.

Congratulations, Manny! Sympathy to Brenda. He wouldn't have done it without you. It has been a privilege to log in day after day and see you taking the rough with the smooth. What 'smooth' you might ask. Okay, the rain and the shine and the sore leg. You are (all) inspiring. Brilliantly done.

Well done Manny, a tremendous achievement. Very few people could do what you have just done (i saw the state of you on Wed afternoon and know how hard you had to dig in to keep going!)
I hope Brenda makes a speedy recovery, its a real shame she missed the grand finale after all her efforts

News on Brenda is that she had a lengthy operation today to piece her shoulder together again, and is apparently in good spirits. Thanks to Chris for the update.
